Foreign Travel

Overview

Foreign travel is travel to a destination outside of the United States or its possessions. Travelers are encouraged to become familiar with the destination country's entry requirements, travel advisories, and other pertinent information, available here. In addition, travelers leaving California must complete the Travel Insurance form, unless their travel arrangements have been made through Connexxus. The form and information about the insurance is available here.

When requesting reimbursement for travel to another country, actual or per diem can be requested for lodging and for meals and incidental expenses (M&IE). All other expenses are reimbursed at actual costs, as per diem only applies to M&IE. Long term travel (i.e., 30 days or longer) is reimbursed at 55% of per diem. Details on reimbursement rates and conditions are in Appendix B of Business and Finance Bulletin G-28.
